Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior representative stated the vandalism left him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
