The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of characters residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with songs about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented recently. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
